About Cate
I offer a warm, collaborative, and body-aware approach to counselling that supports both the emotional and nervous system layers of what you may be experiencing. I draw from somatic therapy, CBT, ACT, solution-focused therapy, attachment theory, Circle of Security principles, Kinesiology, and muscle testing where helpful.
This means our work can support not only your thoughts and feelings, but also the stress responses, protective patterns, and body-based experiences that may be keeping you stuck.
Counselling with me is not about fixing you. It is about helping you better understand yourself, feel more supported in what you are carrying, and create meaningful change that feels steady and sustainable.
Why somatic therapy can help
Sometimes you can understand what is happening logically, but still feel anxious, activated, shut down, restless, overwhelmed, or unable to settle. This is often because stress and threat are not only processed in the mind - they are also carried in the body and nervous system.
When the brain has learned to respond through protection or survival, those responses can become automatic over time. Even when part of you knows you are safe, your body may still react as though danger is present. Somatic therapy helps gently bring these patterns into awareness, soften long-held threat responses, and support greater regulation, safety, and connection.
